Capiz observes Cooperatives Month

Roxas City (31 October) -- The municipality of Pres. Roxas headed by Mayor Raymund S. Locsin hosted the 14th Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration last Oct. 19 inside its huge covered Civic Center . The municipality has been cited this year by the Department of Agriculture (DA) regional office for its outstanding implementation of agricultural programs including its Rural Improvement Clubs.

Top local government officials led by Gov. Vicente Bermejo, First District Congressman Rodriguez Dadivas, Vice Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. and municipal mayors joined officials of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), DA and partner agencies of the cooperative movement in gracing the affair which according to Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Vincent Fritz Cruz-Am, who chairs the Provincial Cooperative Development Council, was designed mainly to showcase the achievements and contributions of cooperatives in the province to national and local development.

Malacaņang has declared that the Philippine economy is strong and resilient, and part of this strength comes from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are run by cooperatives.

The CDA acknowledged the role of cooperatives and how they are making a difference (positive contribution) in our economy. (PIA-JSC) [top]
