USLS tops 15th statistical quiz

Negros Occidental (31 October) -- With 16 correct answers out of 20 questions, Joel Val Alipin of the University of St. La Salle topped the 15th Philippine Statistical Quiz (PSQ), this province.

Following behind Alipin is Technological University of the Philippines- Visayas' Bryner Decena and third is another La Sallian Ma. Regina Fe Lopez. Decena outwit Lopez in the second tie breaking question placing Lopez on the third spot.

All three winners will represent the province in the regional eliminations on November 14, 2006 in Iloilo City. They will be accompanied by Coach Christine Joy Ballada of USLS and Mary Joy Ahunin of TUP-V. The regional winner will then be the official contestant to the National Finals in Manila this coming December.

Participating schools in the provincial level include Bago City College, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, Technological University of the Philippines, University of St. La Salle and West Negros College.

The statistical quiz for freshmen students is an annual undertaking of the National Statistics Office in celebration of the National Statistical Month every October. (NSO/PIA) [top]
