Tagalog News: Expansion ng rubber plantations isasagawa sa Mindanao

Koronadal, South Cotabato (6 November) -- Dahil sa patuloy ng pagtaas ng demand sa natural rubber sa world market, magsasagawa ang pamahalaan ng 1 million hectare expansion ng rubber tree plantation sa Mindanao.

Ayon kay Rodel Maghirang, national program coordinator ng agriculture department's High Value Commercial Crops (HVCC), sa kabila ng patuloy na pag-taas ng demand sa natural rubber, karamihan sa mga rubber-producing countries ay hindi na napapalawak ang kani-kanilang mga rubber plantations at isa ito magandang pagkakataon sa ating bansa na dagdagan pa ang area na taniman ng rubber trees.

Dagdag pa ni Maghirang, base sa kasalukuyang kalagayan ng supply at demand sa rubber, maaaring magkaroon ng 3 hanggang 4 na milyong metric tons na supply gap sa taong 2020. Dahil dito maari ring tumaas pa ang presyo ng natural rubber.

Ang rubber ay karaniwang ginagamit ng tire industry, at ang raw materials nito at napupunta naman sa mga non-tire sector tulad ng gumagawa ng mga gloves, medical ware, sapatos at iban pang produkto na yari sa rubber. (PIA 12) [top]
