The Regional Health Research and Development provides the Region a unified focus and strategies to achieve regional development with the functioning of an efficient and effective health research system.
Consequenly, an efficient and effective RHRDC serves to unify and bind the different key players and stakeholders of the Region’s health research activities in one system.
Although there may be semantic differences in defining a Regional health research system, its goals and functions, there is a concordance that the health research system is composed of individuals, organizations and institutions which utilize research to improve or enhance the health and the quality of life of populations.
“At this time when resources are dwindling and inequities worsening, there is a need to assess ourselves so we can altogether as a unified Region 8 health research system, "get our acts together’, mobilize and share resources. Only by doing so can we as one health research system, efficiently and effectively use research as a tool to improve of our people’s health and quality of life,” Director Pastor said. (PIA 8) [top]
