Zambales lake adjudged best inland body of water

San Fernando, Pampanga (9 December) -- Zambales For the sixth consecutive year now, Uacon Lake in Candelaria, Zambales has been adjudged as Region III's Best Inland Body of Water by the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran.
Uacon Lake, called by so many names as Shangrila of North Zambales, The Fisherman's Haven, The Pride of Zambales and Candelaria's Paradise, is a 112 hectare fishing ground that is home to schools of fishes among them the talakitok, groupers,and milkfish. It also teems with various species of marine life particularly crabs and shrimps It is surrounded by the heavily forested Zambales Mountain Ranges.
To accommodate tourists who frequent Uacon Lake, beach resorts have mushroomed along the area.
Dawal Beach Resort and Restaurant has cottages, a bar and restaurant, kiosk, a swimming pool and a basketball court aside from de luxe rooms and dormitories. Sunbloom Beach Resort, Sea Breeze Beach Resort, Isla Vista and Elizabeth Beach Resort have VIP rooms, cottages, pavilions and videokes.
Candelaria Mayor Jean Morana said the protection and preservation of the environment should not be compromised as progress and development is being achieved. (PIA) [top]
