New low-cost PC ng Bayan available at DBM procurement service

Tacloban City (December 15) -– The Department of Budget and Management (DBM)Procurement Service through Director Imelda Laceras announced the availability of new PC ng Bayan at a very low price of P15,200 per unit.

Director Laceras said that the new PC ng Bayan has a higher configuration than the initial PC ng Bayan which has been launched last year. The PC ng Bayan which was made available to government agencies and employees was configured as a basic computer for government agencies in need of additional technology in the office and as a research tool in every government employee’s home.

To extend the benefit, the New PC ng Bayan has a higher and improved system configuration but still at a very affordable price.

To compare the old and the new PC ng Bayan, Director Laceras said that the old model’s processor was AMD Sempron 2200, 1.5 GHz while the New PC has 2.6 GHZ. The motherboard of the old PC is Refox Motherboard, the new PC’s motherboard is Redfox MK8M890-M7 Desktop Motherboard.

The old PC, Director Laceras continued, has no audio-video program, the New PC now available, has video component VGA (64MB max, shared VRAM) and audio, 6 channel Audio 2D/3D with external amplifier speakers.

The storage drives for the old PC has 40GB Maxtor Hard disk drive, lite-on/Gigabyte 52X CD-ROM drive, 1.44MB FDD. The New PC has 80 GB 7200rpm Excel Store Hard Disk drive, 1.44MB/3.5” floppy diskette drive and 52X CD-ROM Drive , LG brand.

The connectivity of the old PC is 56kbps internal modem while the New PC’s connectivity is LAN/network interface card (built in), 56kbps internal modem. The Interface of the New PC is 8xUSB, 2PC slots while the old PC has only 4x USB.

Although the monitor and the Input device are the same and the new PC is a much improved version, the cost of the New PC is even cheaper, Director Laceras concluded. (PIA 8) [top]
