Winners of Adivay Festival competitions bared

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (16 December) -- Organizers of the Adivay 2006 Festival and the 106th Benguet Foundation Anniversary bared the list of winners in the various competitions that spiced up the twin celebrations.

Most of the competitions were held from November 20-30, 2006 at the grounds of the Benguet State University. Corresponding prizes were given to the winners.

The kayabang which was the highlighted product during the festivities were categorized into several competitions.

First place in the biggest kayabang category was Atok; 2nd place, Kabayan and 3rd place, Sablan.

In the traditional kayabang, Bakun got the 1st place, La Trinidad 2nd place and Sablan 3rd place. Winners of the smallest kayabang competitions were: 1st place, Tuba; 2nd place, Kapangan and 3rd place, Atok.

Among the tourism competitions were best dressed tourism-oriented travel and tours capped by Esgala Travel and Tours, best dressed restaurant was Cranberry while the best dressed hotel was the BSU Gladiola Hotel.

Christopher Wasit won first place in the Adivay Song competition while 2nd and 3rd placers were Ian Balansi and Jason Manuel Osong.

Winners of the Paint the Valley competitions along the Benguet State University fence, were Roland Tambic, 1st ; Aris Colitas, 2nd and Ivo Dilla, 3rd.

Cultural dance contest winners were Bokod, 1st place; Kabayan, 2nd place and Bakun, 3rd place.

Battle of the bands winners were Kibungan, 1st place; Kabayang, 2nd place and Buguias, 3rd place.

Non-food exhibit winners were Herbana Farms, 1st place; East West Company, 2nd place and Allied Botanical, 3rd place.

Carrot exhibit winners were BSU Food Processing, 1st; BSU Bakery, 2nd and Sharry Joy Chamos, 3rd. For the carrot baked products competitions, winners were Jan Peter Camino, 1st place; Sharry Joy Chamos, 2nd place and Lily Juan, 3rd place.

The preparation for the Benguet Main Dish category competitions were won by Bokod, 1st place and 2nd place, La Trinidad.

Best product for processed food went to La Trinidad, 1st place; Buguias, 2nd place and Tuba, 3rd place.

Obtaining the product presentation competition were Lourdes Gasigas, 1st place; Sharry Joy Chamos, 2nd place and Semek Women's Club, 3rd place.

Best product design for handicraft winners were: Kibungan, 1st place; Kabayan, 2nd place; and La Trinidad, 3rd place.

These are but some of the highlighted competitions which were part of the festivities during almost month long event. (PIA) [top]
