Military declares 4-day unilateral ceasefire

Quezon City (22 December) -- THE military has declared a four-day suspension of offensive operations against communist rebels in observance of the Yuletide season, Chief of Staff General Hermogenes Esperon Jr. announced Thursday.

The unilateral ceasefire will take effect on December 24 to 25, and on December 31 to January 1, Esperon said, adding it was approved by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during a meeting with the military top brass Thursday. (PIA) [top]
