Tagalog News: Mababang budget deficit inaasahan para sa 2007

Manila (30 August) -- Tiwala ang pamahalaan na makamit ng bansa ang mas mababang budget deficit na P50.1 B para sa taong 2007 kumpara sa target nitong P63-B.

Ayon kay Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, tataas ang collection sa revenues kasunod ng masiglang estado ng interest savings at privatization ng mga government assets. Ang P40 B na magmumula sa interest savings ay dala ng mababang interest payments sa government loans na resulta rin ng paglakas ng piso at ang pagbaba ng local interest rates.

Sa sale ng mga government assets, umaasa ang pamahalaan na makapaglikom ng karagdagang P37 B mula sa natitirang 40% na stake sa Philippine National Oil Company - Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC) at P10 B naman mula sa 10% na shareholding mula sa Manila Electric Corporation.

Ang pang government assets na isasailalim sa privatization ay ang Fujimi property ng Japan, Food Terminal Incorporated at at ang shares ng San Miguel Corporation.

Kasunod nito, positibo ang pamahalaan na mababawi ang revenue shortfall ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at Bureau of Customs (BoC) sa unang anim na buwan ng taong 2007. (ajph/PIA 12) [top]
