Tagalog News: 114 juvenile offenders pinalaya

Koronadal City (2 October) -- Alinsunod sa bagong direktiba ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, ipinag-utos ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang pagpapalaya sa mahigit isang daang (100) mga tinaguriang "children-in-conflict-with-the-law" (CICL).

Noong Hunyo ng taong ito at batay na rin sa ulat na ipinalabas ng Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology (BJMP), dalawampu't dalawang (22) mga CICL ang pinalaya bunsod ng mga minor cases, tatlumpu't isa (31) ang ipinalabas batay sa provision ng Republic Act 9344 o Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, dalawampu't tatlo (23) ang pinalaya pagkatapos ng kanilang itinakdang sentensiya, dalawampu't isa (21) naman ang pinalaya kasunod ng pagkaka dismissed ng kasong kinasasangkutan at tatlo (3) naman ang nakapag-piyansa.

Dagdag ng BJMP ang labing-apat (14) na iba pang CICL ay inilipat na sa pangangalaga ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at iba pang institusyon na nagbibigay kalinga sa mga minor de edad na mga offenders kabilang ang Center for Restorative Activities Development and Learning Experience (CRADLE).

Sa ilalim ng Republic Act 9344, ang mga batang nasa labinlimang (15) taong gulang pababa ay agad na palalayain at ipagkakatiwala sa pangangalaga ng kanyang magulang, tagapag-alaga at pinakamalapit na kamag-anak. (ajph/PIA 12) [top]
