Negros hospital gets electric beds, medical supplies
Silay City (3 October) -- The Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital (TLJMPH) recently received a donation of more than 10 electric beds and medical supplies.
TLJMPH Chief of Hospital II Dr. Ma. Estrella Ledesma said the beds were donated by the Rotary Club through Mrs. Trebol of the Aloha Mission. The beds are now being considered to be used manually while supplies are being checked.
The donation is a welcome development because TLJMPH is one among government hospitals in the province receiving big number of patients.
Although licensed by the DOH to handle 128 patients, it can sometimes jump up to 260 a day, Ledesma told PIA adding that the hospital has more than 30 physicians and about a 100 plus nurses working on shifts.
The most common problem they encounter, Ledesma pointed out, is the lack of medical supply as well as the lack of manpower as nurse to patient ratio ranges between 1:50 to 1:60.
There are times when doctors and nurses use their own money for patients who are really poor, she said. (PIA-LOL) [top]
