PIA-9 chief urges PIOs to broadcast gov't programs

By Franklin P. Gumapon

Dipolog City (8 October) -- As the government agencies are not bereft of relevant information for the public to know, PIA9 regional head Felipo David G. Malcampo encouraged government information officers to let the public know of the programs and accomplishments of their respective agencies.

Malcampo, who lectured on news writing for broadcast in a recently concluded workshop for government information officers on the bright child program, told the participants that the public should be informed of the programs and accomplishments of all government agencies. "I know there are a lot programs pursued by your respective agencies and yet these are not known to the public," Malcampo said.

The PIA9 head stressed that "government programs are also worth reporting to let the public know what their government is doing."

As one of the seminar speakers, Malcampo also recalled how he extended help to two young male teenagers whose parents wanted them to join the Philippine Army's Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Basilan province. These youths are now taking up education course with him paying for their tuition fees.

Malcampo is a noted advocate for the rights of women and children. (PIA-ZN) [top]
