Cagayan de Oro City (18 October) -- The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Lanao del Sur said some 80,000 children ages 9 months to 4 years old in Lanao del Sur are expected to be given free antimeasles shots, vitamin A, and other vaccines as the province started its Knock-Out Tigdas (KOT) immunization drive on October 14.
IPHO Chief Dr. Alinader Minalang said the program, which is a house-to-house campaign, is in line with the Department of Health's (DOH) aim to eradicate the spread of measles in the country.
Dr. Minalang said the local stakeholders of this project had already pledged full support to IPHO to ensure the success of KOT in the 39 municipalities of Lanao del Sur.
He also said that Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. had earlier made his commitment to fully support the program, urging all local chief executives and concern agencies in the area to support the IPHO in the pursuing this campaign. (PIA-Lanao del Sur) [top]
