ARMM holds groundbreaking rite for first agri-fishery training center

ICC Cotabato City (2 February) -- The Groundbreaking Ceremony of the first Agriculture and Fisherfolks Training Center in ARMM was done last January 29, 2009 at the ARMMIARC Center Experimental Station, Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

The special event was well-attended by officials of the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries-ARMM composed of Secretary Keise T. Usman, Field Operations Director Dr. Salik B. Panalusong, Research & Development Director Jalika D. Mangacop and ARMMIARC Center Siya Belongan.

Consultant/Procurement Specialist Nasser Sinarimbo of Japan International Cooperating Agency (JICA) and ARMM Social Fund Project (ASFP) Project Manager Atty. Mustapha Sambolawan, Assistant Project Management Officer Guimpan Paidomama and Team Leader Norodin Lumambas together with Sultan Kudarat Mayor Bai Shajida Mastura Bandila represented Executive Secretary Datu Quirino Udasan and FFJJ Construction Engr. Chona Sebelleta joined the DAF-ARMM officials to mark the beginning of another project/program that will enhance agriculture through extensive trainings for agricultural extension workers and farmers.

Secretary Usman said that the facility worth than P500, 000. 00 (JICA Counterpart) will be the venue for various agricultural & fishery trainings. The DAF-ARMM will provide for the equipments and other needs of the training center.

Director Mangacop added that the contract signing between DAF-ARMM, JICA, ASFP and FFJJ Construction was initially done last November 24, 2008 at the ASFP Office here in Cotabato City. She said that the officials of the said agencies had also undergone a pre-construction conference for the proper implementation of the program.

JICA Specialist Sinarimbo and ASFP Team Leader Lumambas explained that this (training center) is one of the thirty three (33) projects said to be implemented/constructed in the region.

Director Panalunsong expressed his thanks to the JICA in providing continued support to the autonomous-region and the programs of the Agri-Fishery Department. (rafid-armm/MCD PIA Cot City) [top]
