Sulu adopts 1st Prov'l Dev't and Physical Framework Plan 2008-2013
Patikul, Sulu (2 February) -- Amidst the recent unfortunate incidents in Sulu, Governor Abdusakur M. Tan convened the Provincial Development Council (PDC) Meeting last January 27, 2009 at the Governor's Conference Hall, Capitol Site in Patikul, Sulu.
As PDC Chairman, Governor Tan presided over the deliberation towards the adoption of its first Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) for 2008 - 2013. Sulu claims that it is the first province in the entire ARMM region to formulate the plan using the new NEDA guidelines.
PPDC Engr. Berthrand Chio made a presentation of the plan for consideration by the PDC members, and representatives of the different agencies in Sulu. A Technical working group composed of various government agencies headed by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) and assisted by NEDA.
Fifteen (15) municipalities participated with eleven (11) municipal mayors attended. Other participants include representatives of all government line agencies, the AFP Task Force Comet, PNP, NGOs, CEOs, and the academe. Vice Governor Lady Ann Sahidulla and majority of board members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Sulu were also present.
Governor Tan stressed the importance of the adoption of the plan for the Province of Sulu covering the period 2008 – 2013. After a thorough presentation of the PDPFP, Mayor Hussin Amin of Jolo moved for its adoption by the PDC, which was unanimously seconded and approved by the august body.
The meeting is also highlighted by the awarding of the Certificate of Appreciation to Governor Tan for the unwavering support and the members of the Technical Working Group for their invaluable service in the formulation of PDPFP for Sulu by the LGSPA.
Gov. Tan firmly believes that the adoption of the PDPFP would serve as a proper guide for the Sulu Provincial Government and other sectors to move the province in the right direction towards peace and more development in conformity with the vision and mission of the province.
"Concerted efforts of all sectors and proper coordination are necessary to achieve the goals envisioned by the new development plans, six years from now," the Governor said.
Sulu's Chief Executive also acknowledged the efforts and accomplishments of the different mayors in their respective municipalities and emphasized the importance of peace and security, cooperative organizations, health services, agricultural programs in the local levels.
