Manila (3 February) -- Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of Thailand has accepted the invitation to visit the country to further strengthen the foreign relations of the Philippines and Thailand.
President Gloria Macapagal–Arroyo extended the invitation when the Thai leader called on her during their recent meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The two leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-member countries had participated in the plenary session of the WEF.
"I am very much looking forward to that," the Thai prime minister said of his Philippine visit.
The Philippines and Thailand are celebrating the 60th anniversary of their foreign relations this year, Vejjajiva noted.
The President added, "I am happy when neighbors are doing well – I wish you all the best."
For his part, Vejjajiva said he is looking forward to working with the President on ASEAN concerns. (PIA) [top]
