Alamada town mayor bares LMG plan to build camp

Koronadal City (3 February) -- The lawless MILF groups continuously conduct harassment activities in barangay Dado, Alamada town in Cotabato province, in an attempt to build its camp in a remote area of said barangay, according to Alamada mayor Ernesto Conception.

Series of violent activities of the LMGs of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in said barangay started in December 24, last year and the latest attack was the firing of three rocket propelled grenades (RPG) at the municipal market.

Conception said, joint military, police and CVO remain and vigilant to quell efforts of the LMGs to sow terror and establish their camp in the area.

"Noon pa may natanggap na kaming report na plano ng mga rebelde na magtayo ng kanilang kampo ditto sa Dado, pero hindi namin sila papayagan," the mayor said.

Livelihood activities of local residents, who are mostly farmers, are affected by the LMG attack, Conception lamented.

The farmers, he said, cannot harvest their palay, corn and other crops unless and they are escorted by government troops.

As of now, Mayor Conception, the situation very volatile as the armed groups remain in the area and have started to engage in farming particularly in lake Baradibon or Balatawan where they plan to build their camp. (PBC/PIA Cot City) [top]
