DTI-10 offers income generating livelihood and entrepreneurial trainings

Cagayan de Oro City (4 February) -- Livelihood trainings and seminars on the various business opportunities today are now offered for free region-wide.

Simultaneous trainings and seminars will be conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 in the different provinces in response to the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

DTI-10 Regional Director Alicia V. Euseña said that CLEEP is designed to protect the most vulnerable sectors-the poor, hungry, returning expatriates, workers in the export industry, and out-of-school youth-from threats and consequences of reduced or lost income as a consequence of the global economic crisis.

DTI-10, along with its partner agencies and local government units are converging its resources to bring into the mainstream livelihood trainings and seminars as part of the on-going developmental efforts to create more jobs and livelihood opportunities for affected individuals.

These trainings and seminars are open to all and registration is for free but on first come and first serve basis only as the venue could only accommodate a limited number of participants.

The schedules are as follows:

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Orientation, every Tuesday and Thursday (10:00 AM to 11:30 AM); Showing of Technology Trainings, Every Tuesday and Thursday (3:30 AM to 5:00 AM) and Pre-Business Registration and Licensing Briefing, February 5, 2009 (1:00 - 5:00 PM), all at the DTI SME Center in Corrales-Luna Sts., Cagayan de Oro City;

  • Meat Processing (Tocino and Longganiza) and Fish Processing (Salted Fish) on February 5-6, at the Women's Center, Mambajao, Camiguin Province and Flower Arrangement on February 5-6, at the DTI-Misamis Oriental SME Center, Tiano-Gaerlan, Cagayan de Oro City;

  • Meat Processing (Tocino and Longganiza) on February 5, 2009 and Steamed Foods (Puto Cheese, Siomai, Puto Pao and Binangkal) on February 6, both at the DTI-Lanao del Norte SME Center, Pala-o, Iligan City;

  • Fish Processing (Boneless Bangus and Bottled Bangus) on February 6 at Barangay 13, Cagayan de Oro City and Hilot Services on February 11-13 at the DTI-Misamis Oriental SME Center, Tiano-Gaerlan, Cagayan de Oro City;

  • Entrepreneurship Seminar and Business Consultation on February 12 at the DTI-Bukidnon SME Center Office, Malaybalay City and Fish Processing (Dried Squid) on February 13 at Canubay, Oroquieta City;

  • Fish Processing (Boneless Bangus and Bottled Bangus) on February 13 at Barangay Consolacion, Cagayan de Oro City;

  • Abaca Bleaching and Dying on February 16-17 (Batch 1), February 18-19 (Batch 2), February 23-24 (Batch 3) at Malaybalay City; and

  • Forum on Business Opportunities from February 16-27 at the DTI Provincial Offices, region-wide
