Tagalog News: Red-carpet welcome para kay PGMA mula sa Prime Minister ng Bahrain

Manila (5 February) -- Isang red-carpet welcome ang ibinigay kay Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ni Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa Salman Al Khalifa sa kanyang pagdating sa Royal Terminal ng Bahrain International Airport.

Kasama ng Pangulong Arroyo sa kanyang pagbisita sa nabanggit na bansa sina Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Arthur Yap, Peter Favilla ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at Marianito Roque ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Matapos makapagpahinga ng isang oras mula sa biyahe, ang Pangulo ay nagtungo sa International Convention Center sa Gulf International Hotel upang makipagpulong sa Filipino community sa Bahrain upang kumustahin ang estado ng kanilang trabaho at maging ang kanilang pamumuhay sa lugar.

Sa kasalukuyan, umaabot sa 45,000 overseas Filipino workers ang nagtatrabaho sa Bahrain. 83 sa mga ito ay mga residente na ng bansa, 35,910 ay migrante at 4,045 naman ang mga irregular/undocumented workers.

Sa record ng Philippine Embassy sa Manama nagpapakita na tumaas ang bilang ng mga OFWs sa Bahrain simula ng magkaroon ng diplomatic relations sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Bahrain noong November 27,1978. (Abbenal/PIA 12) [top]
