DOH launches P100 drug regimen at EVRMC

Tacloban City (February 8) -- The Department of Health is set to launch on February 9, the P100 Drug Regimen, a project under the FOURmula One for Health which is designed to implement critical health interventions as a single package, backed by effective management infrastructure and financing arrangements.

The launching will be conducted at 8:00 o'clock in the morning at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) entrance. A short program will be conducted where the words of welcome will be delivered by Dr. Alberto C. De Leon, the chief of EVRMC.

Dr. Emma Laplana, chairperson of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee will then give the P100 Drug Regimen overview. With the P100 drug regimen, a poor patient can already afford to complete his treatment and at the same time address the drug requirement of his body to combat his illness.

Dr. Edgardo Gonzaga, the Regional Director of the Center for Health Development for Eastern Visayas is set to deliver a message regarding the worthwhile undertaking.

This will be followed with the signing of the Pledge of Commitment by the various stakeholders.

The project will not only benefit patient from Tacloban City and neighboring towns but from the whole Eastern Visayas as well. It will directly address the daily medical treatment requirements of patient belonging to the marginalize sector of society, who can not afford to buy expensive medicines for a week treatment or long time treatment.

Under the P100 Drug Regimen, a drug package will be prescribed & dispensed for a complete regimen to a sick patient who needs antibiotic treatment.

A maximum of one (1) to one-and-a-half (1 & ) month supply will likewise be prescribed and dispensed to clients with chronic and maintenance treatment. Prescribing physicians will be required under this project to state in their prescription the exact dosage per day the patient will be taking.

The EVRMC Pharmacy will dispense cheap and complete medicine package at P100 per pack.

Antibiotic and hypertensive generic drugs available at EVRMC pharmacy includes: Amlodipine 10 mg. (6tabs/bx); Amlodipine 5mg. (12 tabs/bx); Simvastatin 10mg (15 tabs/bx); Simvastatin 20mg. (18 tabs/bx); Simvastatin 40mg. (4tabs/bx); Felodipine 10mg. (3 tabs/bx); Omeprazole 20mg. (15caps/bx); Clindamycin 150mg. (28caps/bx); Ranitadine 150mg (28 tabs/bx); Metoprolol 50mg (90 tabs/bx) and Glibenclamide 5mg (30 tabs/bx).

FOURmula One for Health (F1) was adopted as the implementation framework for health sector reforms for the medium term period, through Administrative Order No. 2005-0023 dated August 30, 2005.

It is designed to implement critical health interventions supported by effective management infrastructure and financing arrangements. Its implementation is geared towards achieving health systems goals of the World Health Organization, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) for better health outcomes; more responsive health system; and more equitable health financing.
