PRO-2 awards outstanding police units and individuals
Tuguegarao City (9 February) -- Outstanding police units, individuals and other entities were given recognition for their significant effort and invaluable support to the Police Regional Office 2 during 18th PNP Anniversary at Camp Marcelo A. Adduru, Caggay, Tuguegarao City.
P/Chief Supt. Roberto M. Damian, Regional Director and Quirino Gov. Dakila Carlo E. Cua, Chairman- Regional Peace and Order Council, handed the plaques of merit, streamers and certificates of recognition to deserving individuals and units and the special awards to individuals and entities who extended invaluable support to the programs, projects and thrusts of the regional command.
Gov. Cua inspired the awardees and the police officers by quoting the philosophy of US President Barack Obama saying "in order to face the challenge of the global economic crisis, we need to bring the people together and to work together in a concerted effort to help each other."
"As I can see here in region 2, we are not just ready to face the challenge of tomorrow but we are also ready to battle the effects of the economic crisis," Cua said.
The Isabela Police Provincial Office received the Best Provincial Police Office award; Cauayan City Police Station as the Best City Police Station; Ilagan Municipal Police Station as the Best Municipal Police Station; 201st Provincial Mobile Group as the Best Provincial Mobile Group under the Cagayan Police Provincial Office; Regional Dental and Medical Units as the Best Administrative Support Unit; Highway Patrol Group 2 as the Best Operational Support Unit.
PNP 2 also gave special awards to 2nd Regional Mobile Group, Regional Special Training Unit, Santiago Police Station and Brgy. Capt. Anastacio delos Santos in their significant accomplishments and supports to the achievement of peace and order in their respective areas of responsibility.
The individual award went to NUP Louella M. Asejo-Tomas as the outstanding Non-Uniformed Personnel of the year. Some Local Chief Executives, Non Government Organizations, Government officials and media practitioners were also given due recognition in their support to the maintenance of peace and order of the whole region that leads them to be adjudge as 2nd Best Regional Police Office in the country.
Chief Supt. Damian highlighted the significant administrative and operational accomplishments of PNP 2 last year such as the construction of the new Regional Special Training Unit building and the summary hearing office, the renovation of the officers' quarter building, the innovation of the Matapat Ecological Trail, the acquisition of new PNP vehicles which were turned over to some PNP units, the arrest of top most wanted persons in the national, regional, provincial, and municipal level with an aggregate monetary rewards amounting to 3.9 million pesos.
