Zonta club sponsors "Search for Women of the Year" award

Tuguegarao City (9 February) -- The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao is now accepting nominations for the Search for Women of the Year: The Unsung Heroines of Tuguegarao City from January 28-February 23, 2009.

The contest aims to honor "everyday heroines" who live their lives in an extra-ordinary way by undertaking the uncommon path towards a more meaningful and worthwhile living not just for themselves but especially for others. It also aims to provide inspiration to all the women as well as the men for a better appreciation and enhancement to women.

The search has three categories, mother, senior citizen and youth. To be categorized as a mother, a nominee must have a child within a marriage, single-parent or with common-law relationship and must not exceed 60 years old.

For the senior citizen category, any woman aged 60 years old and above, married, widow, legally separated or single can be nominated.

nder the youth category, any female not beyond 18 years old, who is a student, working-student, out of school or working, is qualified to be nominated for the search.

Any interested person may nominate for the different categories by filling up the nomination form which can be secured from by the Zonta Club to strategic institutions in Tuguegarao City, barangays, government agencies, churches, media schools and civic organizations.

Zonta Club members are disqualified to nominate. Likewise, relatives of Zonta Club members within the second civil degree of consanguinity either ascending, descending and collateral, are not qualified to nominate.

All qualified nominees will be interviewed by a five-person committee on March 14 for initial screening. Nominees who will be qualified from the first screening will be announced for public commentary to be deliberated by the Zonta Club.

The Zonta Search awardees for each category will be awarded with a cash prize of Ten Thousand pesos each, and a plaque of recognition from the Zonta Club.The nominator of each awardee will be given a certificate of appreciation by the Zonta Club as well.

The awarding ceremonies will be done on March 18, 2009. (PIA Cagayan) [top]
