Solon turns over allowances for OYSTER scholars
Neg. Occ. (9 February) -- 5th Dist. Rep. Ignacio Arroyo met with a batch of Out of School Youth Skills Training for Economic Recovery (OYSTER) scholars in the town of Moises Padilla and led the distribution of the two week allowance of the twenty OYSTER scholars in the presence of TESDA officials.
The training was made possible under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's pro-poor livelihood and emergency employment program.
The scholars started theirs 34-day training and they will have a 16-day on the job training at DPWH with a daily allowance of P100.
Rep. Arroyo urged the scholars to put in good use the skills that they have learned from TESDA so that in the future, they could land to a better job, here and abroad.
The scholars, in response, told Rep. Arroyo and TESDA officials, "We won't let you down. This is a rare opportunity to have a free training. We considered this a blessing to all of us." (PIA/cad) [top]
