Literacy council to implement project in Zambo City

Zamboanga City (9 February) -- Due to the affirmative response of LCC project implemented in Zamboanga del Sur, the literacy Coordination Council (LCC) headed by Dr. Norma Salcedo, LCC Secretariat, Evelyn Libunao and and Liza Cruisia of PIA Central Office, will visit Zamboanga City on Feb. 10 to replicate the implementation of LCC project here in Zamboanga City.
The LCC project dubbed as "Literasi Laban sa Kahirapan" radio program which was piloted at Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur gained favorable reaction from local residents down to the grass root level is set to be implemented here in our very own city and hopefully to the city's neighboring provinces.
"Literasi Laban sa Kahirapan" is an advocacy Radio Program on Functional Literacy sponsored by the Literacy Coordinating Council through the Inter-Agency Project Division of the Philippine Information Agency and RO9-PIA as its implementing proponent.
The radio program hopes to relate and promote the importance of functional literacy in the attainment of quality of life, especially among the marginalized sectors of society;
LCC is a national policy-making advisory and coordinating body to provide overall policy program direction to the country's effort's to universalize literacy created through RA 7165, s. 1991, authored by former Senator Santanina Rasul and approved by former President Corazon C. Aquino on November 25, 1991.
LCC is an inter-agency body administratively attached to the Department of Education with DILG, PIA, Philippine Normal University (PNU), NEDA, DepEd, Philippine Senate, Philippine House of Representatives, and NGO as its members.
It is committed to create and maintain an environment for the universalization of literacy. And is tasked to advocate and coordinate policy and program reforms in close partnership with service providers and other stakeholders. (JPA-PIA) [top]
