AGR Charity Run on Feb. 14

Tagum, Davao del Norte (11 February) -- Here are three good reasons to run on Valentine's Day—family, fitness and charity.

All that sums up what the first ever Growee-Alang sa Gugma Run for a Cause is all about when it hits the road on Saturday from downtown Miko's Brew in Apokon to the Provincial Capitol in Mankilam via Rizal and Pioneer roads here.

The charity run is a brainchild of former Vice Governor and erstwhile Provincial Sports Coordinator Anthony Del Rosario who has identified the beneficiaries as Gloria Cristie Regis Center for the Abandoned and Street children and the Kami Dabaonon Foundation.

The three-kilometer fun run is backed up by Growee Vitamins and the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte through the AGR Kids Sports Development Program. Part of the proceeds of the fun run will go to the beneficiaries Gloria Cristie and Kami Dabaonon.

Registration for the fun run will start on February 12 at the PGO Sports Development Program office at GSP Building inside the Provincial Capitol. To join, participants shall only purchase one bottle of Growee Vitamins at the Registration Center at P150. This will already entitle a family team composed of parent-child tandem or individual child or adult as the case may be.

Giveaways and fun run kits will be given to all participants on a first come first serve basis. All finishers will be treated to free breakfast at the Culminating Program at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan Parking area. Raffles and special awards will also be given away.

Provincial Administrator Rufo Peligro is encouraging all provincial employees and friends of Anthony del Rosario to support the program. Peligro will be awarding the special prizes along with Growee brand manager Maan Pallesco and Darren Evangelista of Evangelista Aquatics and Sports Management.

Other previous recipients of the McLuhan Prize include Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Sheila Coronel of the PCIJ, Miriam Grace Go of Newsbreak Magazine, and Armand Nocum of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The Forum is also part of the official list of activities lined up in celebration of the 14th Founding Anniversary of UP Mindanao. For inquiries, call Ms. Sheila Bulaong at 293-0863 local 206. (UP Mindanao/PIA XI) [top]
