"Gugma sa Suba Rafting for a Cause" set on Valentine's Day

Cagayan de Oro City (11 February) -- THE City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office warmly invites the public to support the "GUGMA SA SUBA Rafting for Cause"- a fundraising activity on Valentine's Day by whitewater rafting outfitter Kagay and Gawad Kalinga that is intended for the flashfloods victims' housing reconstruction project.

Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Imma Rae D. Gatuslao said the activity is designed to raise funds for the housing rehabilitation project which will benefit hundreds of families of flashflood victims in Cagayan de Oro City.

It maybe recalled that Kagay is one of outfitters' group in the city who quickly responded to the city government's call for assistance during the rescue operations at the height of the rampaging floods that hit the city last month.

The group utilized their river guides, as well as rafts and other lifesaving equipment during the rescue operations, thus saving the lives of hundreds of stranded residents.

Kagay, in partnership with Gawad Kalinga, hopes to get involve in the rehabilitation work as a way of extending their help to fellow Kagay-anons who were displaced by the damaging floodwaters and big waves.

For a P1,000 ticket, a patron can already take a whitewater rafting adventure and enjoy a sumptuous lunch at the end of the fun-filled ride down the famous Cagayan de Oro River.
