Paracale town bags top honors in 2008 search for municipal peace and order council

by RB Manlangit

Province of Camarines Norte (12 February) -- The town of Paracale here notched the first place in the 2008 Search for Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) in Category A, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

DILG provincial director and co-chair of the provincial search committee Robin Mercado said Paracale will receive a cash prize of P 25,000 and plaque of recognition; Sta. Elena town won the second place and Basud town capped the third place with cash prizes of P15,000 and 10,000 respectively.

In category B, winners were the towns of San Lorenzo Ruiz and Talisay sharing the top post and receiving P12,500 each. No winner was declared for the second and third top posts.

Mercado said that the bases for the evaluation were the implementation of the Integrated Area Community Public Safety Plan, monthly meetings, allocation of budget and the presence of barangay tanod at the barangay level.

He said that this is the first awards program for MPOC, and has been funded by the Provincial Government of Camarines Norte, in cooperation with PIA, NAPOLCOM, DILG, LIONS CLUB and from PPOC. (PIA Camarines Norte) [top]
