Bacolod CPOC ranks 3rd in Best CPOC for 2008

Bacolod City (13 February) -- For five straight years, the Bacolod City Peace and Order Council again emerged in the top 5 best CPOC in the country, claiming the third spot for Highly Urbanized City category for 2008.

In behalf of the members of the Bacolod CPOC, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia received the award in Malacaņang recently. The award was given by no less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Bacolod City Police Director Ronilo Quebrar also received the 2008 Community Service Award. DILG City Director Victorio Pagapulan also joined Leonardia and Quebrar in representing the city during the awarding.

The city's peace and order council ranked third under the highly urbanized city category for 2006. The council has been cited on the bases of its exemplary achievements as a prime mover in the formulation, implementation and orchestration of programs, projects and activities for the enhancement of law and order and public safety, including the effective and integrated coordination of the five pillars of the Criminal Justice System at the local administrative level of government, which accomplishments are highly indicative of its continuous and unwavering commitment in the pursuit of lasting peace and development in its area of jurisdiction.
