PNP mobility gets boost
Iloilo City (16 February) -- The Philippine National Police's (PNP) continuing program to enhance the capability of its police stations got a boost with PNP Chief, Director General Jesus Versoza, turning over 29 service vehicles to the different municipal police stations of the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Iloilo City.
During the recent 18th PNP Founding Anniversary celebration of the Police Regional Office VI held at Camp Martin Delgado this city, Versoza formally turned-over the keys of these vehicles to the local chief executives and Police Chiefs of the recipient municipal police stations.
In the province of Aklan, the recipients of the Toyota Hi-Lux service vehicles are the police stations of the municipalities of Balete, Banga, Buruanga, Ibajay, Lazo, Libacao and Makato while the municipality of Numancia received a Honda XR200L MC.
The police stations of the municipalities of Dumalag, Jamindan and Mambusao in the province of Capiz also received Toyota Hi-Lux service vehicles.
In Antique province, the police station of Bugasong received a Toyota Hi-lux while the San Jose and Tobias Fornier police stations got Toyota Innova brands.
On the other hand, the municipal police stations of Ajuy, Balasan, Concepcion, Dumangas, Lemery, Miag-ao, and Pavia of the province of Iloilo got Toyota Hi-Lux service vehicles and that of the police stations of Batad, Bingawan, Guimbal, Janiauy, Pototan, Sara and Zarraga got the Innova Brands. Iloilo City also got a Toyota Innova.
Versoza said the service vehicles intended for the province of Negros Occidental "dineretso na doon."
The distribution of the vehicles, said Versoza, is part of the program of the PNP to enhance the capability of the police stations which are its frontlines.
He also disclosed that for this year all police stations nationwide will have at least one patrol car.
"Now, after we have given all police stations with at least one patrol car we will be distributing additional vehicles to other municipalities taking into account "kung sino na yung may pinakaluma na issue," says Versoza.
Versoza requested local government partners to help the PNP take care and maintain the service vehicles as "these will not only be serving for police functions but also other official government functions."
He added that "our call for everybody is to cooperate with each other so that we will be able to maintain peace and order around Region VI." (PIA) [top]
