Binalonan, Pangasinan (16 February) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to arrive here on Tuesday, February 24, to lead the inauguration of two vital school infrastructure projects.
The President who by tradition annually comes to this municipality, her mother's hometown, for the celebration of the town fiesta, will first inaugurate the new two-storey-four-classroom building at the South Central Elementary School which project she had led its groundbreaking exactly a year ago.
She will later motor to the Pangasinan II schools division office to inaugurate the Library Hub, the first of its kind in Region 1. The hub has around 35,000 volumes of story books with different titles which are borrowed for one month by the various schools within the division. There are 559 schools in the division.
The Department of Education conceived the Library Hub project in 2003 to improve the reading skills and comprehension of pupils and students in the entire country.
Construction of the building was completed in July last year with funding support from the municipal government and fifth district Rep. Mark Cojuangco.
The Chief Executive is also scheduled to preside over a conference of education officials at the nearby e-library hall. (PIA Pangasinan) [top]
