Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (16 February) -- More scholarship grants have been provided for the province from two congressmen, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA) officials here told PIA.

Eva Doniego, technical education and skills development authority specialist said the scholarship slots came from Representatives Eduardo Zialcita of the 1st district of Paranaque City and Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo.

She said Zialcita awarded P200,000.00 worth of PGMA Training for Work Scholarship certificates covering 46 slots in the province in the last quarter of 2008 and another P200,000.00 worth of scholarship certificates for this year.

Ocampo, she added committed 6 scholarship slots for the province for this year.

Doniego also revealed that 30 students who were recipients of the Training for Work Scholarship Program between the provincial government, TESDA, Nueva Vizcaya Press Club(NVPC) and Saint Mary's University(SMU) have successfully graduated and already passed the skills competency test with 100 percent passing rate.

"They are now ready for employment and we are now facilitating their absorption inorder to employ their skills and help their family," she said.

Under the program, 60 percent of host academic institutions' scholarship recipients must pass the competency test being administered by TESDA or their qualification to host scholars under the program will be forfeited. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
