Casiguran, Sorsogon ARC cluster B benefits from Fundacion InteRed

Sorsogon Province (February 16) -- Another big project is now underway for Casiguran Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) cluster B through a Spanish cooperator in partnership with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Sorsogon.
According to Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Roseller Olayres, Casiguran ARC cluster B has entered into a four-year contract that would contribute to the sustainable development of the rural community, covering the period from April 25, 2008 – April 25, 2012 with Fundacion InteRed, a Spanish Non-Government Organization.
Olayres said that DAR and Fundacion InteRed have chosen Escuala, San Juan, Tigbao, Inlagadian Multi-purpose Cooperative (ESTIMUCO), a farmers' organization, as partner-cooperative and Lingap para sa Kalusugan ng Sambayanan (LIKAS) as DAR's local NGO partner for the implementation of their forthcoming trainings specifically on food processing.
Casiguran DAR Municipal Office Development Facilitator Marciana Olondriz, meanwhile, said that the Spanish cooperator will establish a demo-farm through the help of DAR. At the same time, it will also provide infrastructures such as school buildings and lavatory, and other social services that would enhance income generation capacity of the local populace.
Components of said project include community organizing and governance, productivity system development, education, health, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
Social preparation for the project is now being commenced by LIKAS.
Aside from Casiguran, same project was also implemented in the town of Pilar, Sorsogon, with the Aquinas University Foundation Incorporated as the local NGO partner.
In the Bicol region, only Camarines Sur and Sorsogon provinces were given assistance by Fundacion InteRed.
Fundacion InteRed is financed by (Ahencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarrollo (AENID) and has a base in Butuan City which operates in Caraga and Bicol region. (DAR/PIA Sorsogon) [top]
