Total power outage hits Davao Light franchise area
Davao City (17 February) -- Davao Light and Power Company apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience that the total power outage has caused them.
The power outage started at 11:10 am when the power supply from the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) was suddenly cut off.
After four minutes, the standby Bajada Power Plant was activated. Power generated from this facility was immediately dispatched to the special line serving the hospitals, key service providers in the government and residual power to customers.
With the aid of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), a computerized program, Davao Light was able to immediately undertake gradual dispatching of electricity to the various substations the power received from TransCo. This is part of the process to stabilize power supply in the entire system.
