PESO, DOLE and POEA to conduct career orientation

Bacolod City (17 February) -- Three agencies of the government the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the City of Bacolod, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) are set to conduct a career orientation to graduating high school students on March 3 and 4.

Some 22 public schools signify to send students for the orientation which will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00NN and 1:00PM to 4:00 PM at the Robinson's Place Bacolod.

The orientation aims to assist the more than 8,000 graduating high school students this year in terms of what courses to take up in college vis a vis the supply and demand of the labor force. Aside from the students, the parents are also enjoined to participate in the orientation as they can provide guidance to the students.

Members of the academe and professional associations will speak on the different job trends including the labor supply and demand.

"To answer the supply and demand on employment, this (orientation) will also help students make the right choice of profession," PESO Manager Moises De la Cruz said.

De la Cruz added that the orientation will help lessen the gap and the mismatch of the labor supply to demand. (CMO/PIA/EAD) [top]
