2009 National Workers Congress set

Roxas City (17 February) -- A national workers congress will be conducted by the government employees association in coordination with the Public Sector Labor – Management Council (PSLMC) on March 23 in Pasay City.
The Congress will have major activities like Regional Workers' Consultation by sector, election of eight sectoral representatives, parallel sessions/training programs on various concerns for the workers and management groups, presentations by PSLMC members, and a keynote speech of the PSLMC Chairman on "The Partnership in Government and Advancement of Morale, Efficiency, Responsiveness, Courtesy and Integrity (MERCI) in the Government Service.
"The election of sectoral representatives shall be participated in by union officials and members who are qualified to vote," said a Civil Service Commission (CSC) website announcement.
Based on the 2009 Election Rules, government unions with registered CNAs are entitled to three votes while accredited and registered unions are entitled to two and one vote, respectively, during the election.
The day-long activity will have a registration fee of P2,450.00 for participants who can avail of the Early Bird Discount up to February 27 but for those who cannot avail of the discount will pay a regular registration fee of P2,700.00.
"Attendance to the said Congress earns an equivalent of four hours of training credited to each participant and the attendance in the training program also earns equivalent number of training hours," noted the announcement.
The online announcement also stated that additional details about the upcoming event may be inquired from the CSC offices nationwide or the Personnel Relations Office at the CSC Building in Diliman, Quezon City. (CSC/PIA) [top]
