Feature: Best police commissioned officer for admin is a woman

Iloilo City (17 February) -- A widow and a mother of three is one of the individual awardees of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 6 for the year 2008.

Police Chief Inspector Elma de la Pena Magbanua, Chief of the Administration and Human Resource and Doctrine Development Sections of the Iloilo City Police Office was chosen by the PRO 6 as Best Police Commissioned Officer for Administration in the region for 2008.

Magbanua received her plaque of merit from PNP Chief, Director General Jesus Versoza during the presentation of awards which highlighted the 18th PNP Founding Anniversary celebration of the PRO 6 held at Camp Martin Delgado, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City, last February 13.

Magbanua, also named as Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer in 2007, attributed the award to her dedication and loyalty to duty.

Since she lost her husband who was also a PNP member 17 years ago, Magbanua said life has not been easy for her and her three children.

She was left with no choice but to work in order to send her children to school, eventually, learning to love the job which helped her and her family.

The notable performance and accomplishments of her section also contributed a lot in her winning the award, Magbanua said.

Other individual awardees were Police Chief Inspector Noel Lamsis as Best Police Commissioned Officer for Operations, Police Officer 3 Francisco Lindero Jr as Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration, Police Officer II Rina de la Cruz Salaya as Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operations and Manuela Balderrama of Capiz Police Provincial Office as Outstanding Non-Uniformed Personnel.
