Improvement of NVizcaya airport road underway
Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya (17 February) –- The road leading to the Bagabag airport here is set for improvement this year, according to public works and highways officials.
Engr. Ronald Reyes, district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways(DPWH) main engineering office said the improvement of the 4.76 kilometer access road will also be enhanced with asphalt overlay on its existing condition.
"In fact, this is scheduled for public bidding on February 26," Reyes told PIA.
The improvement of the Bagabag airport access road has a government funding of P36.71 million.
The road improvement project is part of DPWH's pump priming program for this year which is lined up under their national arterial /secondary roads and bridges projects.
The improvement and rehabilitation of the Bagabag airport is one of the flagship projects of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's North Luzon Agribusiness Quadrangle (NLAQ) which she committed for the province during her State of the Nation Address (SONA) in 2004.
The NLAQ seeks to harness agribusiness and tourism potentials of Northern Luzon.
Once completed, the Bagabag airport here will used by foreign and local tourists in visiting the famous Banaue Rice Terraces in Banaue, Ifugao including traders in transporting their local products. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
