Farmers org grows with gov't funding aid
Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya (17 February) -- They started with a P50,000.00 livelihood assistance fund given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ten years ago and now operating with more than P.8 million fund.
The Butao Upland Farmers Association (BUFA) in barangay Bone South here have successfully expanded its services and members from 10 to 200 members.
"We can attribute their success with their good management, leadership, honesty, cooperation and prompt payments from their members," said Jose Amansec, DOLE assistant district officer here said.
The BUFA started ten years ago in sitio Butao, barangay Bone South and managed to increase its membership within the whole barangay and neighboring villages.
The BUFA manages a grocery store, relending and selling farm inputs to fellow members. At present, BUFA gains from loan interest amounting to more than P143,000.00.
Earlier BUFA availed of P50,000.00 livelihood fund from the DOLE's Program for Rural Employment thru Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship Development (PRESEED). (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
