Cebu to host DepEd's 2008 'Best Brigada Eskwela Implementers'

Cebu City (February 18) -- Cebu will host the 2008 National Awards Ceremony for the 'Best Brigada Eskwela Implementers' and Hall of Fame Awardees of the Department of Education (Dep Ed) slated tomorrow afternoon at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Education Sec. Jesli Lapus will lead tomorrow's event where a total of 600 participants composed of regional Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) coordinators, school division superintendents, division ASP coordinators and school heads/principals of the schools to be awarded are enjoined to attend the ceremony.

The 2008 'Brigada Eskwela' will likewise be launched tomorrow as Dep Ed-7 Regional Director Recaredo Borgonia said they are inviting the city and municipal mayors, district supervisors and the provincial, city and municipal federated PTCA presidents to be around.

Celebrities from the entertainment industry like Gary Valenciano, Yeng Constantino, Sam Concepcion and Kitchie Nadal are invited to add glitter to the event while there will be around 200 local performers from the public schools in Region VII to showcase their talents.

In the morning, Sec. Lapus will head the Management Committee Meeting (MANCOM) where education undersecretaries and assistant secretaries as well as the regional directors of the 17 regions throughout the country will convene. School division superintendents of the 19 divisions of Central Visayas will also be attending to observe the meeting.
