Feature: DOLE Services Caravan

Koronadal City (18 February) -- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 Regional Director Ma. Gloria A. Tango announces the conduct of a DOLE SERVICES CARAVAN on February 25-26, 2009 in General Santos City. She said that the two-day activity is one of the Departmentís responses to the effects of the global financial crisis especially to displaced local and overseas workers and those who are currently on flexible working arrangements and their qualified dependents.

Director Tango added that the following services will be provided during the two-day activity:

Job search assistance services (Jobs Fair); Diskwento Fair; and

Legal Assistance, Training Assistance, Employment Counseling and OFW Services.

For the Diskwento Fair, about fourteen (14) major distributors and retailers operating in General Santos City have been invited and are expected to join in the Fair to be held at the City Hall compound (beside CSWDO fronting Crown Bookstore). About five (5) local employers and eight (8) overseas recruitment agencies were invited to participate in the Jobs Fair to be held at KCC Mall of Gensan.

Workers seeking legal assistance or needs further training as well as counseling and other OFW services may visit the DOLE SARGEN Field Office at Magsaysay Avenue corner Saguing Street, General Santos City.

The Services Caravan is a joint undertaking of the DOLE-Regional Coordinating Committee 12 (RTWPB, TESDA, OWWA, NLRC, NCMB), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 12 and other private stakeholders.

The general public is invited to visit the caravan and avail of the services provided by the participating agencies. (DOLE 12/PIA 12) [top]
