PhilHealth projects wider membership by 2010

San Jose, Antique (19 February) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or (PHILHEALTH) in Antique projects a wider membership by 2010 with more LGUs sponsoring additional indigent constituents.
Junie C. Sabusap, Chief Social Insurance Officer said that for CY 2008 total membership in the province has reached 340,265 out of the total population of 521,394 or representing about 65%.
PhilHealth data showed that as of December 31, 2008, total membership enrollment in the 18 municipalities reached 27,257 with the town of Anini-y topping with 3,068 and followed by Sebaste with 2,295. Except for Sibalom town with zero the rest of the towns have enrolled their indigents constituents under the sponsored program.
Total breakdown of enrollees are : Sponsored program - 27,257; Individually Paying Program - 7,889; Government Employed - 13,011; Privately employed - 13,585; non-paying members - 1,772; OFW- 4,539 making a total of 68,053.
Congressman Exequiel B. Javier and Governor Salvacion Z. Perez have also sponsored several individuals to the PhilHealth program.
Sabusap encouraged individuals to enroll in PhilHealth Individually Paying Program and avail of PhilHealth's healthy packages like: Pregnancy-related cases, newborn care package, Dialysis, chemotheraphy and radiotherapy and other selected surgical procedures provided a member complies with all the requirements.
Senior Citizens are also informed of their lifetime membership to PhilHealth as long as they are members of SSS and GSIS and they have paid their 120 months contribution to the said offices.
Indigent members can also charged their consultations and medicines to PhilHealth as long as the Rural Health Units are accredited by the agency. This way the LGU also earns from the share from PhilHealth.
Sabusap further disclosed that the Provincial Government of Antique through Governor Perez will sponsor 28 thousand more individuals to the program this year.
PhilHealth holds office at St. Nicholas Bldg., T.A Fornier St. San Jose, Antique and goes north to Pandan and Culasi every 1st and 3rd Monday and Friday respectively every month. (PIA 6) [top]
