DAR installs 62 ARBs in Negros town
Negros Occidental (19 February) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental provincial office recently installed 62 agrarian reform beneficiaries from Hacienda Graciana, Brgy. Sta. Cruz in Murcia town.
The land was formerly owned by Mandalagan Development Corporation which was covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program by way of Voluntary Offer to Sell scheme.
A total of 59.9822 hectares were distributed to qualified ARBs and collective CLOA was issued in their favor.
A representative from Murcia Assessor's Office reminded ARBs on their obligation to pay the realty taxes on the prescribed period. Failure to pay will result to foreclosure and will place the landholdings into auction sale by the Municipal Government.
PARO I Gideon E. Yongque, Jr. reminded the beneficiaries of their rights and obligations in their land amortization at Land Bank and the Realty taxes to their LGU. Selling of rights and subleasing of land by the ARBs is a violation of CARP and this will lead to perpetual disqualification.
DAR is also currently conducting monitoring to check if installed ARBs are still the owner of the lands awarded to them.
ARBs are also advised to organize themselves in order to avail of the support services from DAR, other government agencies and their respective local government units. (DAR/PIA/EAD) [top]
