Tagalog News: STAR Tollway Project stage II, daan tungo sa kaunlaran

CALABARZON (20 February) -- Ang Southern Taglog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway Poject Stage II ay bahagi ng Road Development Project ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo na mag-uugnay sa South Luzon Expressway at STAR Tollway hanggang sa Batangas Port sa Batangas City.

Sa ngayon, nagagamit na ng lahat ng motorista ang 19.74- kilometrong dalawang linyang Lipa-Batangas road at ito ay palalawakin hanggang sa apat na linya kapag ang bahaging ito ay naabot na ang kapasidad.

Noong Marso 26, 2008, pinangunahan ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang inagurasyon ng P2.4-bilyong road project na extension ng 22-km four-lane konkretong daan na nag-uugnay sa Sto. Tomas hanggang Lipa City.

Ayon sa highway operator nito, ang STAR Tollway Corp., nabawasan ng hanggang 30 minuto ang biyahe mula Sto. Tomas hanggang Batangas City.

Ang bagong daan ay bahagi ng P687-bilyong Luzon Urban Beltway Project na naglalayong pagdugtungin ang 300-km network nang tatlong logistics facilities sa labas ng Metro Manila - ang Subic International Container Terminal, Batangas City International Container Port, at ang Diosdado Macapagal International Aiport na nasa Clark Special Economic Zone.

Ang Star Tollway Project Stage II ay ipinatutupad sa pamamagitan ng build-operate-transfer scheme sa pagitan ng Star Tollway Corporation at ng pamahalaang nasyonal na magtatapos sa 2030.

Nauna rito, ang STAR Tollway I mula sa Sto. Tomas hanggang Lipa City ay binuksan noong 2001, ito ay four-lane 42-km expressway at binabagtas ang mga bayan na kinabibilangan ng Malvar, Tanauan City, Lipa City, Ibaan, Batangas City, at Bauan.

Ang pondo ng STAR Tollway Project I and II ay nagmula sa Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at ipinatupad ng Department of Public Works and Higways- Urban Roads Project Office (DPWH-URPO). Ito ngayon ay nasa ilalim ng superbisyon ng Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) at ang operasyon naman ay pinamamahalaan ng Star Tollway Corporation. (PIA Calabarzon) [top]
