Soldiers' kids get scholarship

Davao City (25 February) -- Certificates of scholarships will be given to the children of soldiers on February 26 at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City.

The Memorandum of Agreement will be formally signed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and three educational institutions in Davao City and four schools in Davao del Norte.

This is a program especially designed to provide educational opportunities to the dependents of soldiers.

Participating schools are Jose Maria College, MATS College of Technology, Intercity College of Science and Technolgy, Davao Winchester Colleges, Inc., Arriesgado College, Assumpta School of Tagu, and North Davao College - Tagum Foundation.

Also in the same ceremony is the ceremonial awarding of Certificates of Scholarship to the dependents of PFC Glen D Pingcas 837894 (Inf) PA, PFC Lordan E Inog Jr 864494 (Inf) PA, PFC Mike M Abang 813022 (Inf) PA and PFC Albert N Sipsip 821974 (Inf) PA who were all killed in an encounter with insurgents

The activity will be attended by The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, LTGEN Rodrigo Maclang AFP, Chairman of the AFP Educational Benefit System (AFPEBS), MGEN Raymundo Ferrer AFP, Commander of EASTMINCOM, and the heads of the participating educational institutions.

The forging of the said partnerships is expected to provide dependents of military personnel who are residing in the said area access to quality education. (PIA XI) [top]
