Tagalog News: 1.3 million public school students mabebenepisyuhan ng cash-in-soap program ng DepEd

Manila (25 February) -- Inihayag ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli Lapus na mahigit 1.3 million public school student sa Central Luzon ang mabebenepisyuhan sa cash-in-soap program ng departamento.

Ayon kay Lapus ang nasabing programa ay inaasahang magbibigay ng livelihood sa mga out-of-school youths (OSYs) habang tinutugunan ng mga health concerns ng mga estudyante sa mga pampublikong paaralan.

Ang OSYs ay magsasanay sa medicinal soap making sa pamamagitan ng school health personnel na isasanay ng Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHO).

Inaasahang ding mahigit 12,300 na OSYs ang magpro-produce ng herb-based health soap na ipamamahagi sa mga schoolchildren na dumaranas ng iba't-ibang skin ailments sa Tarlac at Pampanga, dagdag pa ni Lapus.

Ang pagkuha ng serbisyo ng OSYs sa soap making ay bahagi ng Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Sa soap making livelihood activity, bawat OSY ay inaasahang kikita ng P4,000 sa paggawa ng 2,000 bars ng sabon. (KAlbay/PIA 12) [top]
