Campaign for effective solid waste management starts in Bacolod City clustered barangays
Bacolod City (25 February) -- The city government, through the Solid Waste Management Cooerdinating Action team, met the first set of cluster barangays, to discuss the full implementation of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
The cluster barangays, composed of Barangays 1 to 12, vowed full support to the city government's effort and assured that they will disseminate the information to their respective constituents.
Among the issues discussed during the meeting was the installation of the materials recovery facility (MRF), a specialized area that receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end user manufacturers.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia assured all barangay leaders that the city will work closely with each barangay to ensure the success of the city's campaign on effective solid waste management.
A series of meetings will also he held for members of the media, mall and restaurant owners, teachers, students and other civic groups. (PIA/cad) [top]
