Isabela solon backs 2010 automated elections
Santiago City, Isabela (26 February) -- A solon of the 4th Dsitrict of Isabela is supporting the move of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to have an automated national and local elections next year.
Congressman Giorgidi Aggabao made this statement over a radio station during his birthday celebration last February 24 at his residence in Calao East, Santiago City where he met well-wishers from government and private sectors including residents of his district.
"For me I favor an automated election next year to erase doubts that there is vote rigging and/or poll cheating to winning candidates," Aggabao said.
Aggabao is optimistic that the COMELEC's P11.3 billion supplemental budget for poll automation program will be passed during the house plenary session tomorrow.
The Comelec has long been aiming for an automated elections but failed to implement due to insufficient funds to implement it.
Last year, the Commission on Elections has pilot-tested poll automation during the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) elections and it did work effectively as elected ARMM Governor Zaldy Ampatuan together with the rest of ARMM elected officials were declared winner after a day of election.
