"Iskolar Sang Iloilo" program now accepts applicants

Iloilo (26 February) -- The "Iskolar Sang Iloilo" program of the Iloilo Provincial Government is now accepting applicants who when qualified, will have the opportunity to enroll in a Four-Year Baccalaureate degree in any State University and Colleges in the province.

The scholarship is open to those who belong to financially-disadvantaged families having an annual income of not more than P120,000.

The preferred courses for scholarship include those that are in support of the thrusts of the government, like Agriculture, Engineering, Fisheries, Forestry, Environment Protection and Management, Cooperative Development, Education and social Sciences, Information Technology, Accounting and Management and related fields.

A press release from the Provincial Planning Office said that the Scholarship Evaluation Examinations are scheduled on March 14-15, at the 5th Floor Conference Room, Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

Applications should be submitted to the Secretariat, "Iskolar sang Iloilo" Program, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Iloilo Provincial Capitol, on or before March 11.

Other than the income level requirement, applicants must belong to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class, bonafide resident of the province of Iloilo, and must be of good moral standing in the community.

Among the documents required are Certification from the Barangay Captain that the applicant is a bonafide resident of the barangay, of good moral standing and belongs to the disadvantaged family.

The applicant must also submit the Family Income Tax Return for CY 2008 and a certification of tax exemption from the BIR; Certification from the school's Principal that the applicant belongs to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class; photocopy of school ID, 1one piece ID photo and Information sheet duly filled up and signed by both the applicant and parents/guardian.
