NVizcaya DOLE eyes more than 600 summer job workers

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (26 February) -- The Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) here is expecting a surge in the applicants for the Special Program for Employment of Students(SPES) this summer.

Jose Amansec, DOLE assistant district labor officer said at least 6 out of 15 municipalities in the province have already signified their commitment to absorb SPES applicants.

"And we have already received other commitments from the academe and business establishments. Hopefully we can reach between 600 to 700 mark," he told PIA.

SPES is a yearly summer program deisnged to employ students on vacation so that they can earn income to augment their upcoming expenses of their enrollment for the next school year.

SPES workers' salaries are shouldered by DOLE and the absorbing agencies on a 40-60 sharing respectively.

From April to May, the students will be given days to work ranging from 15 to 1 month. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
