Outstanding Kalingas conferred
Tabuk, Kalinga (28 February) -- The provincial government conferred the Most Outstanding Kalinga award to 14 recipients who were recognized in the regional, national and international level for their outstanding accomplishments in 2008 during the 14th Ullalim Festival.
With Governor Floydelia R. Diasen presenting the plaques, assisted by Vice Governor Jocel Baac, the outstanding yKalingas include three board topnotchers. Engr. Jun Cosmiano for being one of the fourth placers in the November 2008 Civil Engineering Board Examination with a grade of 97.55; Rudolf T. Vecaldo who was the second placer in the September 2008 Licensure Examination for Teachers with a grade of 91 and Alrin Flores Falgui, No. 2 in the June 2008 Nursing Board Examination with a grade of 85.80.
Phylline Rhaiza Sugguiyao Shiu was likewise given recognition for graduating Magna Cum Laude at the State University of New York Plattsburg with the Degree Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.
San Ubaldo Esteban was recognized for earning the 2008 Outstanding Public Officials and Employees Award from the Civil Service Commission during the 108th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service. Esteban has also been receiving awards in the regional level and was a national finalist for the Dangal ng Bayan award.
The awardees also include three entrepreneurs namely Thelma Bayle Ng,who is one of CAR's Most Inspiring Entrepreneur in 2008 Go Negosyo Caravan of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), Regina Madio of Prajs' Gift Shop's for being recognized by the Philippine Association of State University and Colleges as one of the 16 outstanding entrepreneurs nationwide and Ma. Socorro Saclag of Ayatu's Ethnic Craft for getting the Best Booth Award at the Impakabsat 2008 Regional Trade.
Other Outstanding ykalingas are Galing Mason awardee Mr. David Bao-ag who placed 6th in the national level as the representative of CAR, and 2008 Regional Model OFW Family of the Year Awardee, Mr. Frsico Laranang and his family.
Balbalan mayor Allen Jesse Mangaoang for his efforts in promoting the delivery of basic services for the people. Believing that 'health is wealth', he was conferred the Red Cross Sandugo National Awards in 2007 and 2008 for his outstanding accomplishment in bloodletting activities promoting the importance of blood donation in Balbalan, Kalinga.
Said awardees also received P10,000.00 cash award each. Conferring the Kalinga Most Outstanding Award aims to encourage more Kalingas to work harder in their field of work or profession and eventually gain recognition for the prestige of the province. (ggd/PIA-Kalinga) [top]
